Eliminating container dwell time and hoist waiting cycles through deterministic vehicle-to-infrastructure positioning.
Container vessels carrying 24,000 TEU require rapid crane cycles to minimize costly port demurrage fees. However, when autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) experience communication latency or positioning jitter, multi-million-dollar STS gantry cranes sit idle waiting for chassis alignment.
V2XPort establishes a direct 5G NR sidelink (PC5) connection between the automated crane spreader and approaching AGVs. As the spreader descends with a 40-foot container, dynamic target vectors are streamed directly to the AGV's electric steering actuators, achieving sub-2-centimeter landing alignment without human spotting. ``` +-----------------------+ PC5 Kinematics +-----------------------+ | STS Gantry Spreader | --------------------------------> | Automated Yard AGV | | Descent Vector & Drop | <-------------------------------- | Chassis Alignment RTK | +-----------------------+ Sub-5ms Sync +-----------------------+ ```
At Rotterdam Intermodal Gateway, deploying V2XPort increased hourly container moves per crane from 28 to 39 TEU while completely eliminating chassis collision incidents.
